About the Role
Responsibilities
Leadership:
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data developers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders.
Data Architecture:
• Design and implement scalable and efficient data architectures to support business needs.
• Define and enforce data architecture standards and best practices.
ETL Development:
• Lead the design and development of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to integrate data from diverse sources into a unified data warehouse.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the ETL pipeline.
Database Management:
• Oversee the design and management of databases, including schema design, indexing, and optimization.
• Ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
Data Modeling:
• Develop and implement data models that align with business requirements.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs for analytics and reporting.
Performance Optimization:
• Optimize data processes and queries for performance and scalability.
• Address performance bottlenecks and implement improvements.
Data Security:
• Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive information.
• Collaborate with security teams to address potential vulnerabilities.
Collaboration with Data Science:
• Work closely with data scientists to deploy machine learning models into production.
• Ensure seamless integration of data processes with data science initiatives.
Documentation:
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes, architectures, and workflows.
• Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to the team.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Project Management:
• Participate in project planning, estimation, and delivery.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure data deliverables align with project timelines.
Team Collaboration:
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
• Encourage knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) in data engineering or a related role.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and familiarity with relevant data processing frameworks.
Experience with data modeling, database design, and data warehousing.
Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and guide a team of data developers.
Knowledge of ETL processes, data integration, and data quality best practices.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and associated data services.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members.
